YOU MAY CHOSE ADDICTION TODAY, BUT ONE DAY ADDICTION MAY NOT CHOSE TO BE WITH YOU





WHAT IS ADDICTION???

Addiction is in simple terms can be described as a situation when you don't have any control over what you are doing and still enjoying it. For me, addiction is anything which leads you to a path at the end of which you will surely regret of doing that thing. The word ADD in ADDICTION refers to the same addition which you keep on adding to the activity which should have been stopped a long time before.

Before we discuss the solution of getting rid of ADDICTION, it is very important to discuss GOOD ADDICTION AND BAD ADDICTION.

So, first of all, it should be very clear that there is no such thing called GOOD ADDICTION and BAD ADDICTION. You can never term anything as a GOOD ADDICTION as long as you lose control over what you are doing. I feel ADDICTION is very similar to CANCER. Like CANCER, once it enters your body or attacks your body, it destroys you completely or if you want to defeat CANCER then you have to change yourself completely. Similarly, if for once you are ADDICTED to something, it will completely ruin your life no matter how much you try to get rid of it, or if you seriously think of defeating that ADDICTION, then you surely will have to bring a transformation within yourself.

There is only one single way of defeating ADDICTION i.e AWARENESS.
If you are conscious of what you are doing, then I bet it will be just impossible for you to get ADDICTED to.
For example, someone starts smoking just out of eagerness to give it a try. Because for the first time you smoke, it is completely out of excitement and eagerness. Later you start finding an excuse to smoke every time you wish to. Here that excuse is - STRESS. I have heard a lot of people say that they smoke out of STRESS. This simple excuse is in simple terms is called coating of a negative thing with a positive one which no one can condemn. But if you are aware and conscious of what you are doing and what is happening to your body, then you will realize that smoking does not reduce your STRESS, in fact, it acts as an incentive to your STRESS.

Have you ever noticed, you don't end up after completing a single cigarette? In fact, you opt of another one or two. If it was meant for reducing STRESS, why did your STRESS factor didn't minimise after you smoked out the first one!!!! When you will be aware of the things happening with you, you will surely ask these questions to yourself.

This was all about the ADDICTION OF THE REAL BAD THINGS, WHICH YOU SHOULD GET RID OF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Now here is another example of addiction to the good things in this world, because as I said, addiction to anything is bad.

For example, you are addicted to your work, say office or business or any other work. Now what you will think is getting addicted to your work is so good as it keeps you stick to your work and motivates you to work day and night from which you earn a good amount of money. Whenever you are not able to give time to your family or any other member in your life, you have an excuse to give. That excuse is- "I AM BUSY IN MY WORK, WHICH IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE". This excuse again is one of a kind which no one can condemn. But what you don't realize is, this same addiction is taking you away from your loved ones. These loved ones are the same, whom you at one point of the time chose to keep close to yourself. So, now you cannot bring an excuse of such materialistic one to keep your loved ones away from you. Suppose you were aware of what kind of mistake you are doing by getting addicted to working and keeping your closed ones away, you will ask yourself a question - "HOW WILL I FEEL IF THE SAME THING HAPPENS WITH ME"??  "Will I be able to bear it all, if someone close to me keeps me away from him/her just because they are busy with their work"???

So, never get addicted to anything in life. Initially, whatever you do may make you feel good and happy. But with time, it may be too late to even realize the ADDICTION you have stepped in to.

In my future post, I will try to come up with specific solutions for getting rid of specific addictions.

The moment we try to become someone else or just be like someone else and start following someone too closely, there are just two possibilities from this - 1st aspect is, we will e nd up being exactly the one who we are following and not an inch greater than that because we already form an image or a limit of how we want to be  - if that person is successful and well established then you may see this as a good way of moving ahead in life.
